The coronavirus pandemic has been tough on every section of society. A video of an old-aged couple went viral as his business of a small road-side food stall named ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ has suffered a huge loss. The videos shows a 80-year-old man named Kanta Prasad teary eyed as he is facing difficulty in running his small eatery stall due to loackdown.
The stall is run by Kanta Prasad and his wife Badami Devi since 1988. The octogenarian couple originally hail from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Delhi when he was 21. The couple were married when Prasad was five and his wife was just three years old.
The original video of the couple was shot by blogger Gaurav Vasan and shared on his YouTube channel. In the video you see 80-year-old Kanta Prasad sharing that he and his wife Badami Devi start cooking at 6.30 am and are ready with the day’s meal by 9.30 am. Dal, curry, parathas, and rice were kept in large dishes, ready to serve for around ₹30-50 a plate. When he was asked how much he has earned, he broke down and produced Rs 10 notes from a box. In four hours, Rs 50 was his earning.
As soon as the video went viral just within one day many people offered to help the couple financially and even visited ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ to have lunch
Actor Sonam Kapoor, Randeep Hooda, Raveena Tandon, Advocate Somnath Bharti, Cricketer R Ashwin, IPL team Delhi Capitals, and food delivery app Zomato also tweeted their support.
